The question is why is this happening only with this particular religion. The so-called terrorists whom I would call barbaric-sick-dogs,are misusing the name of religion as I believe to use it as a sort of media to spread the terrorism all over the world. There are always a minority of the Islamic community who are driven by this illogical and baseless motives to kill people and blast themselves. This world is becoming a crazy place because of them, looks like the Human species is going to erase itself quaralleling over land borders, selfish motives and baseless revenge. His first solo album Shaan Se was a tremendous album. It was like a fresh cool breeze of indi pop in the heat of old repeated hindi melodies. I loved his songs which included LOVEOLOGY....50-50.....they were different. Then his playback singing for Dance masti....amazing stuff....Jaane kaise kab khaan...with Saagarika.....the best hindi remix ever I tell ya.

Lately, one of my most favourite Shaan solo is Tanha dil....I can relate my self to his song. Rajeev who has become an intense anti-muslim and pro-hindu supporter, wants all the muslims to be thrown out of India and he says that the Muslim killings by Hindus is totally justified...its an "EXCUSE" to kill someone of their community when they killed people of Hindu community. BUT I CONSIDER THIS ABSOLUTLY RUBBISH. I believe that the religions we follow are just a thought, a belief which makes us feel confident and secure in this vulnerable world. But killing people of other religions is absolutely foolish and barbaric to do so.

Indian Muslims and Hindus are fighting and killing people of their own families and friends for so many generations. And think I and people of my genetation must stop this....we must bring the message to the people of our country and we must find the solution to this.

I feel the solution to the problem in my country is that we must reduce economic and religious extremism in our country. The solution lies in the citizens of India themselves, WE ALL INDIANS MUST PAY TAXES, I know that this is not a perfect world but WE MUST INITIATE this AMONG OUR GENERATION and our fellow Indians.THE GOVERNMENT CAN ASK FOR THIS BY KEEP FREE EDUCATION FOR ALL INDIANS. We also need the DOLE SYSTEM in our country where this tax should not be eaten up by the government but given to the poor people of India, this will surely remove extremism from our country and keep the country on the track of development and literacy.

I know this is difficult and will take time but if we keep this determination INDIA and the communal harmony in INDIA will survive for ages to come. What do you say?

P.S. This question makes me think all the time. As I grow older, I try finding solution to this question in my daily routine....or is it an answer by itself....and I am finding the question.....we are being ruled by the natures power.....but what has kept it going for so long. I feel that we are here for some role to perform. We are brought into this world by an unknown superpower who created and maintains the wonderful gift of 'living beings'. We humans maybe one of the most clever races but we cannot deny the fact that we are living in a dependency cycle.Any disturbance to the cycle and the whole life may become unstable or destroy.

As we grow we have more desires and more wants, and by hard work and suffering, we get the power to overcome our desires. But when we get something without any suffering or we something or person we are too accustomed to we tend to loose its value.

But is life only about birth, fight, suffering, happiness, reproducing and then destroying. There surely has to be more to that. I really want to break this invisible barrier between myself and the eternal power. One of the very beautiful wild imaginations and an ironical point of view is seen in the beautiful movie 'The Matrix'. The movie reminds me that we all humans are living in cells of organic fluid and body working is the source of power of the mechanism of the whole system. How a new human is born and he feeds on the fluid of the dead human, it is all in our mind. Why do we keep running behind materialistic things and forget the importance of the ones who the dearest to us. I guess I should do some reading on Gautama Buddha - ' The Enlightened one', he has the answer to my question I feel. Do you?

Comment

Aamir Khan - The Versatile actor

Hindi movies have been one of my favourite pass-times. The masala movies are really appauling turn me off, but the musicals, patriotic and inspirational movies are the ones have always loved watching no matter if they are a hit or flop. Aamir Movies have always been of my type. From QSQT, Raja Hindustani, Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar ke, Sarfarosh,Dil Chahta Hai, Ghulam till Lagaan. Recently, my flatmate Ashwin managed to get JO JEETA WOHI SIKANDAR from the cassette library. Thats one of the most cool movies I have seen.

The stylish Aamir Khan(sanju aka sanjaylal) , who keeps the grip on the movie from start till end, his determination to win the CYCLE RACE for his college and the-not-so-famous MODEL COLLEGE which he belongs to. In competition with two time champion (Shekhar Malhotra)from the famous RAJPUT COLLEGE ( Sabse Aage Ladke kaun - Rajput, Rajput), the inter-college championships and the competition which is always keen between so many colleges. And Sanju avenges his brother's defeat in the final cycling race. It is so very exciting.Aamir had performed so very well in it.

Talking about sports, remember boxing champ Sidhu from Ghulam, Aamir has given his 100% in that movie, his conflict with Ronak Singh (the don), his conflict of interests with his brother and his famous 'Aati Kya Khandala' is the best to watch. In contrast look out for ACP Rathore in Sarfarosh, the brave and talent Police office who fights for his nation to stop smuggling and the passion to crush all the illegal operations. The combination with (my favourite) the most beautiful SONALI BENDRE, makes the movie a must watch inspirational flick.

Talk about the cool and happy-go-lucky character of AAKASH from Dil Chahta Hai and he rules the movie. His close bond with life long friends Sid(Siddarth) and Sam (Sameer) and the movie rotating around their fights and love lifes. Refreshes all past college memories and is the most happening teenage Bollywood movie I have seen. And check out the versitality, Aamir comes up with another movie in succession, the patriotic and optimistic Bhuvan, who wants to fight all the Britishers out of his land. The weird but successful idea to defy to play and win a cricket match against the Britishers. And the Lagaan team with the combination of cricket is another hit from Aamir.

Is this the end or there is more to come Aamir ?

Is this another Amitabh in the making? Lers see.......

Btw....I guess people havent noticed but I put two articles on 7th Sept.....havent got much of a response on that :)
[9/7/2002 9:47:56 PM | Nirav Chandan]
September 11, 2001- What I did that day?

Comment

Welcome Lord Ganesh - Ganpati Bappa Morya

Since childhood, I have been a great follower of Lord Ganesh, the lord of good beginnings.I have waited for the Ganesh festival every year of my life. Its a great feeling to welcome Lord Ganesh himself at our home for the ten day celebration and the visarjan (immersion) of the Ganesh idol. I have always been actively involved in the decoration of the society Ganesh celebrations. This also applies to the Ganeshji we had at home. I have always felt an air of freshness after the Ganesh aarti. The spirit of Ganesh Festival in Pune, the lazim, the dhol- taasha and the huge process of visarjan is so over-whelming.

Here down under I have tried to maintain the same spirit. Today was a great day, got up early in the morning (which is pretty rare ;) ) usually only in a mood of festival that is. Had a Ganesh Aarti at my own very place. I had the Dagdu Sheth Ganpati Frame and Ganpati Cassette with me, that was all I needed to keep the Ganesh festival spirit alive in Australia. Uday and myself prepared the traditional 'Modak' for the prasad. Called over other indian students living closeby and had the honour of doing the aarti for all, and give out the prasad. Had an ususual satisfaction at the end of the day. Makes me feel really good.

Really miss the Ganesh festival back in Pune.Would end the blog by just saying again:

Ganpati Bappa Morya! Mangal Murti Maurya. A batsman who hits the ball inside and outside the field boundaries, the ball thrown by the bowler to strike the wickets (sticks which the batsman is protecting) which will send the batsman out of the field, the batsman plays to gain points for his team in the form of runs and the protector of the ball, the fielder who has to stop the ball or catch it when it comes towards him. A simple and a fun game isnt it. But the best part of it, is that it is highly UNPREDICTABLE. Talking about prediction I can recall a few Magic/ Tragic moments of Indian cricket :

1) Sachin Tendulkar in Sharjah in 1998.India Vs Australia Not even hits 2 consecutive half centuries but helps India qualify for the finals and win the finals. Shane Warne and Gillespie were helpless, no ball could stop him. What a great knock mate, Shane still remembers Sachin in his nightmares, remember....lol......

2)India Vs Zimbabwe. World Cup 1999. India has 3 wickets in hand. Has 12 balls to go and needs 5 runs. What do u know an unkown Rookie Mbangwa bowls all three out and India loose an all important Super Six qualifier.

2) World cup 1996, Bangalore. India Vs Pakistan, Aamir Sohail rocks the India bowling attack hits Prasad for an excellent boundary but dares to provoke Prasad by pointing his bat in the direction of the boundary and indicating Prasad where the ball was. NEXT BALL...... AAMIR SOHAIL CLEANNNNNNNN BOWLED. Oh! What a shout did I give that moment....I could here all the TV sets in my society and the people cheering and roaring with pride. A typical Indo-Pak cricket match.Full of tension.

3)World Cup 1996, Calcutta, The cricket crazy crowd of Eden Garden , a capacity of one lakh. Fully packed. Sri Lanka rattles the Indian bowling setting a target of 250. India collapses to the magical bowling of JAYASURIYA around the wicket, the ball spinning a magical 45 degrees and blowing wickets of most people.

4) India Vs Zimbabwe in Zimbabwe.India were in doldrums when out of no where Robin Singh knocks four sixes in the all important last ten overs. Last ball to go and India needs 8 runs. Robin Singh hits a sixer so elegantly and effortlessly that I have never ever seen, And what do you know it was a NO-BALL. 7 runs to India. One more ball and 1 to win. Ball misses batsman, Robin Singh run out on last ball, Match is tied.

5) India Vs Pakistan, India defeats Pakistan. Kumble takes 10 wickets. What a star!

There are so many magic/tragic moments I can remember and the excitement to watch the country pray for their sport, their sporting icons, the daily discussion of matches and the personality of the cricket players dominating the day after the match. Oh! What an influencing game is this. So much craze for a game of cricket, so many ooh(s) and aah(s) on wicket taking deliveries. Will this excitement ever die , not even a Match fixing, Mike Denesse, Sponsorship controversy can stop the game and the excitement. Will this cricket mania ever subside I do not know, but the only thing I know is that :

Eat Cricket, Sleep Cricket, Pray Sachin Tendulkar ;)

Yeah hi hai right choice baby! Aha!

Comment

Friends forever - none in real life

Yesterday while going through a few university magazines, I came across an International Student Magazine of 'Boomerang' Sep edition. The article on a student's first vacation back home, caught my attention. There was this Jakarta gal from Sydney who had planned her whole trip and vacation and notified her friends that she was gonna be back home and they would have a great time together . But thinks didnt go the same as she had planned. Her long time school/college friends who she had spent most of her time with had all disappeared. A few had gone abroad to do their own studies, most who stood back were so busy in their own life and colleges that they did not even care to reply back to her. They were involved with their own new friends. Suddenly life seemed really different and she had to spent her major time sitting home with her parents.

I recollect from my first week in India when I returned to India for vacation for the first time this year in Feb.I had so many hopes, plans of celebrating my one month annual vacation and what did I get in return? I went through the exact phase as above, the friend circle I used to imagine of had got dispersed my best friends. I tried desperately to get them together and suprisingly they were reluctant to have a gettogether. Most people said they did not have time.*SAD*. Few did not even bother to reply to any one email or call. I got very disappointed. :(
And I was actually cursing my friends for that. But Papa made things better for me, Papa explained me the important lesson in life. Friends are NOT FOREVER.
Your friends will never stay with you always, they will continue with their lives no matter what. You have to find and make new friends and continue to explore the fun of LIFE.That gave me a lot of relief, I realised that making new friends made so much difference to us rather than getting dissappointed over lost friends.

What do u say?

Comment

September 11, 2001- What I did that day?

These days the only advertisements flashing on Australian National Channels is the ' Sept 11 Special / 09.11.01 / non-advertisement special' refreshing the horrible nightmare of the World Trade Center strike. It was this night in Australia that I can never forget, watching it live on TV :( The first and then the second flight striking the world trade center. The dare of a handful of extremists killed almost 3000 people , shocked the whole world. It send shivers down my body, I was shocked with the whole impact of the planes crashing into the buildings and the smoke and concrete cloud arising from it. People running everywhere, firefighters and men who were fighting to save the first building, getting crushed under the second building collapse. This was the scariest live event I have ever seen in my life .

My first thought was what about Kamlesh!!!! I was panicing when I saw this happening because my first cousin Kamlesh (we are very close brothers), he works with GoldMan Sacchs, one of the most reputed firms in USA. But we still did not know whether his office which is on the 49th floor , was in the world trade center or in some other office block. At first, I ran to the nearest 24 hour service station to recharge my mobile and called up India.
Papa , Kamlesh's dad and the whole of Chandan family was in panic. They were watching this event on Star News. Dad said that all the Indian callers had flooded calls to USA out of concern and he asked me to immediately try from Aus. I spared no time and rushed to make a call but I found an answering machine reply from Kamlesh. This started to worry me a lot. I left several messages in tension. I didnt know what to do. I some how re-collected his workplace number. First call and I got through, and still getting a voice message from him. This was not exactly what I wanted but it still provided us some relief.

The reason being that the phone got connected , which itself reflected that his office was not at the WTC, later we realised that G.S. was just two blocks away from the World trade center. Kamlesh did reply back early in response to all my messages in the morning and that gave me such a relief. He said that he was fine and it was Gods grace that he was safe, ironically, he had plans to go to WTC at 9 am , and when he reached late closeby at 9:30 am , he got embraced by a cloud of cement and smoke.

I was so stressed as I couldnt sleep that night and I guess no one who watched it could have.May got give strength to the families of the victims and god be with them.

After that day, I have read numerous articles of the heroic efforts and phone call conversations of Americans who fought the terrorist-hijackers in the plane which averted the crash into the White house. Your bravery and courage at that moment in life, deserves great appreciation.

I pray to god the world does not see any terror-days like Sept 11 ever again. :(

Silence..........

Comment

Great Friday

Hmmmmm......not a bad start I say. I dont have so much up on my website and already have five to six visitors on the second day. Really on a high about that.....thanks for the encouragement all of you. Well it was a busy day today. Attended my class in the morning. The lecturer really sucks. Well Australia has a diverse culture and so it also reflects in various organisation and university staff. My lecturer Ms.Jenine Bekhuyzeen (god knows how to pronounce that....) she is German. And my gosh!! I was having a tough time getting used to her accent..shez got this zzz...adjective to all her words (and za boardzzz white...)......No wonder Anish was snoring away in the lecture....lol.....No hard feeling to the German Bloggers out there :) Its just that I found it a bit amusing!

Later, got together with my project groupmates and collected some info for my assignment due on Monday. Also had to enrol in a subject cross-campus for the same university.Griffith.But how stupid these admin people are, they didnt even know what were the exact admission policies for a cross-campus subject enrolment. Made me run up'n'down to different offices till I finally got the approval....phew....hmmmm...today I was pretty happy though, mainly because I also got my Tax refund back....and I got through this admission ka chakkar.

Hey! didnt I tell you people.I work part-time on weekends as an assistant at a convinience store to support my living. Its good money :) A$200 = That makes it Rs.5400. Makes me feel really rich when I convert it. But then its a nightmare if Indians lived abroad only doing conversion of what they bought and earned and compare it to India.
What else!!!! and yes....I am really looking forward to Ganesh Chaturthi, being a proud PUNITE, I never forget to celebrate my favourite Ganesh festival, though I have MISSED IT SOOOOOOO MUCH for the last 2 years......we still have plans to have the Ganesh Puja on the 10th September 02.....No visarjan here..coz ppl. are very environmental consicous....but I have got the famous Dagdu Sheth Ganpati idol in my mini-mandir in my room and the Ganesh aarti cassete, also what do you know we are going to download the recipe for MODAK and make it ourselves. Should be great....can't wait.

GANPATI BAPPA MORYA!!!!
